SCARBOROUGH FLOORING Division One

WHITBY SPRINGHILL 3 v BRIDLINGTON OLD BOYS 7

Both Mark Chajecki and Simon James hit trebles for Bridlington. While Chajecki had comfortable straight setters, James was involved in the game of the night against the experienced Barbara Kearney. James had to call on all his reserves to take the fifth set 11-9 against a very difficult opponent. The Brid pair also took the doubles together while Whitbys reply came from singles for the unlucky Kearney, Bob Evans and John Hanson.

ROLO 9 v NOMADS 1

Rolo took full advantage of a Nomads side, who were a player short. Highlight of the contest was Matty Lowe who secured his first win in the topflight. Matty beat John Loftus in a hard fought five set rubber. Both Martin Lowe and other son Ethan stayed unbeaten with straight set wins. Dave Oxley stopped the whitewash for Nomads with a single success.

SCARBOROUGH FLOORING Division Two

PINDAR 8 v WHITBY ENDEAVOUR 2

Nigel Clapham got Pindar off to a great start by defeating Endeavour number one Barry Davies in five sets. Clapham fought hard after losing the opening two sets to take the rubber. Clapham and new signing Paul Ho remained unbeaten and took the doubles together in another five setter. Third player Guy Hutchinson added a single. Endeavours reply came from singles for Graham Cripps and Jon Parkinson.

PICADORE B v RYEDALE SC 5

Newcomer to the league Steve Atkinson earned Picadore a draw with an unbeaten display in his singles and a great doubles win with Tony Ingham. The latter also had a shock win over Ryedale stalwart  John Gascoyne to secure the draw. Ryedales reply came from Mick Carter and Jean Wardman who scored a brace each and a single from Gascoyne.

SCALBY OLD BOYS 3 v HOBNOBS 7

Despite a man of the match performance from Matty Whilde Scalby could still not stop Hobnobs from registering a seven point win. Whilde was involved in fourteen competitive sets to bag his three winning singles. Ajay Tandan, Derek Harris and Allan Thurling all hit braces for Hobnobs with the solid pairing of Harris and Thurling also winning the doubles in five sets.

TRINITY 5 v PICADORE A 5

A draw was a fair result in a close contest. Picadores Martin Zammit excelled with a worthy treble and there were single wins for team-mates Richard Lloyd and Nigel Hird. The emerging talent of Moke Warburton was rewarded with an impressive brace and a doubles success with her father and it was John Warburton who captured the draw for Trinity with a brace.

SCARBOROUGH NEWS Division Three

SCALBY SCHOOL 6 v DELPHSTONE 4

An all round team display from Scalby with Luke Howland, Martin Briggs and James Biggs all winning twice. The doubles provided the only five setter of the night with Jon and Chris Wanless taking it 5-11, 4-11, 11-7, 11-7, 11-6. Jon Wanless who is unbeaten in the league scored his usual treble for Delphstone.

ROGUES N JOSHERS 2 v WHITBY RESOLUTION 8

Rogues put up a brave fight against experienced opponents. Promising junior Isaac Grunwell continues to progress in league matchplay and he won a well earned single. Dominic Grunwell also showed there is more to his game by adding to Rogues score. However promotion chasing Resolution bagged a welcome eight points with Dan Schweitzer scoring a treble, Ken Benford and Mike Stones a brace plus a doubles triumph together.

EASTFIELD TERMINATORS 3 v EASTFIELD WARRIORS 7

This derby encounter was dominated by Peter Ozon who hit a treble for Warriors and paired up with Josh Timmons for a doubles success. A Timmons brace and a single for Richard Lear completed their score. New signing Frank Horswell did well to score a brace for the losers and John Paul Zegstroo had agreat win over Lear.
