SCARBOROUGH FLOORING Division One

NOMADS 6 v BRIDLINGTON OLD BOYS 4

Old Boys had to call up Dominic Grunwell as a late replacement. Although Dominic did not get on the scoreboard he put up some brave resistance against his opponents. John Loftus, Gary Connolly and Dave Oxley all scored a brace each for a very welcome six points. Simon James hit a treble for Old Boys and teamed up with Julian James for a straight set doubles win.

ROLO 4 v THE HIT SQUAD 6

The current champions put in a solid performance with all three players scoring braces against Rolos young side. Rolos Ethan Lowe can consider himself unlucky in not claiming a major upset against Ross Dransfield losing 9-11 in the decider. Rolos other youngster Ben Rowe took the in form Guy Whiting to five but could not keep the momentum and lost it 4-11. Richard Dent was the victors other scoring brace. Rolos reply was a Martin Lowe treble and a win in the doubles with son Ethan.

SCARBOROUGH FLOORING Division Two

WHITBY ENDEAVOUR 8 v PICADORE A 2

The night belonged to Whitbys Graham Cripps with an unbeaten singles display and a win in the doubles with Barry Davies. He was taken to a decider against the experienced Sally Hunter but held his nerve to take it 11-9. Whitby welcomed back Vic Wilson and he gave solid support with a brace. He was denied a treble when Martin Zammit took the fifth set 15-13 in another close contest. Barry Davies also scored a brace, losing to Hunter to conclude the scorings.

RYEDALE SPORTS CLUB 4 v HOBNOBS 6

A great away win for Hobnobs. The two key rubbers where Allan Thurlings win over Ryedale number one Pat Swindell and Stuart Robinson who defeated the battled hardened  John Gascoyne. The Hobnobs pair each went on to score braces. Thurling capped a great night by a critical doubles success with Derek Harris. They beat the strong pairing of Gascoyne and Swindell 11-5, 11-13, 11-2, 5-11, 11-8. Ryedales reply came from the doubles pair with both players hitting a brace each.

PINDAR 8 v SCALBY OLD BOYS 2

Pindars new signing Paul Ho showed his worth with an impressive treble. The ex Hull league player only dropped one set on the night and took the doubles with Guy Hutchinson. The latter and Mike Holder also scored twice in this eight point win. Old Boys reply came from Matty Whilde and Aaistair Hutchinson.

PICADORE B 4 v TRINITY 6

Trinitys dynamic duo did the business to record this close win. Matty Lowe was in top form with a treble and a doubles success with Moke Warburton. Moke was stopped by Picadores Steve Atkinson in scoring a treble. Picadores reply came from an Atkinson brace and singles for Tony Ingham and Chris Smith.

SCARBOROUGH NEWS Division Three

LIBERATORS 10 v ROGUES N JOSHERS 0

No stopping high flyers Liberators in this whitewash result. Brian Goodliffe, Karl Cousins and Kath Edwards were all unbeaten. The opening rubber between Cousins and Tom Wild was finely contested with the Rogue youngster losing in the fifth 6-11. Special mention to Kath Edwards who put in a personal best on the night.

NEWBY JFS 3 v SCALBY SCHOOL 7

An excellent match with all players contributing. Top performer was Scalbys Luke Howland with an impressive treble. Team-mates Will Rennard and Martin Briggs gave great support with a brace each. Newbys response came from a Sam Lowe brace and a brilliant doubles win by Jack Louth and Frazer Ives.

EASTFIELD TERMINATORS 3 v WHITBY RESOLUTION 7

Eastfields Peter Ozon was the star of the night with a treble that included the scalp of Whitby number one Stuart Hurworth. However that was all the Eastfield team could score against there more experienced opposition. Braces for Hurworth. Ken Benford and Mike Stones plus a doubles by Benford and Hurworth sealed the win
