Silksworth B v Comets

A battle between the two bottom teams in the second division and Silksworth turned out their strongest team of Nigel Tree, Jeff McKenna and John Foster, Comets had Colin Pritchard, Jack Pugh and Peter Whitfield. Both Nigel and Jeff took all their games only dropping ends to Peter and Colin, but the doubles proved a surprise with the pairing of Jack and Colin taking Nigel and Jeff in 3 straight ends. All the Comets team won one game giving Silksworth a 6-4 victory.

Eagles v Crusaders

A true mismatch between league winners Brandon Crusaders and bottom team Eagles. However with Brandon turning out forfeit as one of their players Eagles were going to gain some points.

Regulars Steve Pattison and Stephen Goldsmith won all their singles and took the doubles. For Eagles Harry Veitch was closest in taking an end to deuce and despite both Toni and Guy Wong hitting some superb forehand drives they couldn’t compete with the experience of the two Brandon players. Result 7-3 to Brandon.
