Redby A v Comets

With best player Kevin Richardson moved  up to Bombers and Matt Greenwood retiring, Comets drafted in Peter Whitfield to join Terry Charlton and  Haydn Williamson in their trip to Redby to play one of the most consistent teams in Division 2.  Redby A had regulars Ken Tweedy and Malcom Denevan joined by Frank Booth who is just returning from surgery. The gulf between the teams wasn’t as great as the 10-0 score suggests, with some close ends. However the greater experience and consistency of the Redby team came through and they won all the games with only Haydn and Peter picking up ends . MVP to Ken Tweedy in an overall match played in a very sporting atmosphere.

Eagles v St Gabriels E

The game got off to a very late start between two bottom half teams and became a very close affair. The youngsters from Eagles, of Luke Dumighan , Harry Veitch and Becca Harrison put up a tremendous display against the  veteran players of St Gabriel’s taking two games each against Joe Miller, Derek Buller and Viv Ford. However Joe Miller’s ‘unusual’ serving style caused problems to all the Eagles and left him MVP with 3 wins and the doubles as well leaving Eagles 6-4 victors.
