NESLC V Eagles

Unfortunately Eagles were hit hard by other commitments and could only turn out two players against the mature team from NESLC of Pat Thomas, Trevor Linsley and Terry Duff. Pat got off to an excellent start beating Haydn 3-1 after Haydn won the first end. However Jack made amends after along drawn out duels with Terry beating him the final end of the game. Haydn was up against Terry next and won in three and the youngsters were well into their stride and won the rest of the singles even though they were made to work hard for all of them. However when it came to the doubles it proved that experience tells and Pat and Trevor won it in 3 ends to give equal points to both sides in a match played in a fantastically friendly manner. Jack Pugh took MVP for winning all his singles.

Comets v Cobras

Comets are struggling in the 3rd division but the results don’t reflect the games and this was a case in point, against one of the front runners in the league, Cobras turned up with Paul Fairlamb, Alastair Johnson and Lynsey Storey against Colin Pritchard, Peter Whitfield and drafted in  Nigel Duffin. Comets didn’t win any games but every game was a struggle for the talented Cobras squad who had to dig deep to come away 10-0 winners
