Eagles v Devils

Devils travelled with the improving brothers Will and Alex Murphy along with experienced Bill McClennan who paired with Bruce Davison for the doubles. Eagles had Jack Pugh with Ross Clennell and Becca Harrison. The more experienced Devils looked to have a convincing win but even they admitted they struggled against the youngsters from Sacriston who played some really good fdefensivs play and attacked at every opportunity but lacked the consistency to win crucial points.

Will Murphy took MVP with 3 wins and was backed up by his brother Alex with 3 wins but was taken to 5 ends in two games. Bill took 2 and the doubles with Bruce which gave Jack the only consolation of the sole Sacriston point in a 9-1 defeat.

Byker B V Comets

The summer league is always difficult in getting a regular team and Comets were in trouble for this game having only two players Dan Nicholson in his first game three months and Peter Whitfield drafted in form the Eagles. Byker had regulars Rob Lawson Mark Patterson and Dave Craddock. Although both Dan and Peter were resolute in defence they didn’t have the attacking prowess to finish off games and came away empty handed in a 10-0 defeat

Eagles v Cramlington Knights

Eagles came away with an excellent result from their trip to Cramlington turning out regulars Jack Pugh and Luke Dumighan and in his first game in this summer league Haydn Williamson, against the Knights team of Paddy Easton, Matthew Mastaglio and Tom Clark. Jack used his consistent approach well to force his opponents into errors and took MVP with 3 victories. He was backed up by a strong performance by Haydn who won 2 and took the doubles with Luke who also won a game. Matthew did best for Knights winning 2 and Tom also won 1 to leave the Sacriston team with a 7-3 victory.
