Cobras v Comets
Comets had the reliable Nigel Coe with Colin Pritchard and Peter Whitfield against the two talented youngsters Lyndsey Storey and Andrew Matfin along with experienced Pete Wilkinson for Cobras.
It looked like an easy win for Cobras but they were made to work hard for it. Pete Wilkinson took MVP with 3 singles win and Lyndsey and Andrew won two each and took the doubles as well. Consolation was lucky ‘Nets’ Whitfield and ‘stonewall’ Nigel who took a game each to leave it 8-2 to Cobras.
Eagles v NESLC
NESLC turned up with Pat Thomas , Terry Duff and in his debut game Trevor Linsley , against the youngsters of Luke Dumighan Becca Harrison and Ross Clennell. The game was a fascinating game going one way and the other. The excellent Terry Duff took MVP with all his singles and the doubles with Pat, but the Eagles all took games with Luke and Becca taking 2 each and Ross chipping in with one giving them a good 2nd game of the season with a 5-5 draw.
Aces V Cram casuals
Casuals had Alex Hinchcliffe teamed with up and coming star Adam Webster and Mike Jones against Duncan Fraser, Jon Mawson and drafted in at the last minute Peter Whitfield.
Casuals got off to a cracking start winning the first two but ‘nets’ Whitfield came in to beat Mike, and with Duncan beating Adam it was 2-2 going into the doubles. The Alex Adam pairing won the doubles, but Aces took two of the next three making it 4-4. Unfortunately Casuals took the next two to give them a 6-4 away win.
