Eagles v Energy

It is getting to the end of the season and it was a fairly lacklustre performance  from Eagles in a local derby against Brandon Energy. None of the youngsters were in good form and as Energy had the very consistent Stephen Pattison playing for them, he took MVP with three singles victories and the doubles with Paul Henderson. Haydn Williamson and Luke Dumighan  both managed 2 wins and Jack Pugh chipped in with a victory but a 5-5 draw was a bit of a let down considering they beat the Energy 7-3 at home. Bill McClennan was the other Brandon player who also managed a win ensuring all players had some success on the night.

Bombers v Silksworth A

Bombers are behind on games, and Backspin have already taken one of the promotion places and with 22 points ahead having played 3 games more, they look good for the title as well. Backspin have East Boldon to play while Bombers have St Johns, St Gabriels and Silksworth A and B, so they really need maximum points in every game to make a fist of it.

The first of those was the fixture with top four side Silksworth A who luckily for Bombers only travelled with 2, Howard Brown and Bob Sanderson. Both players put up stiff resistance with their formidable defences but they were no match for the two young guns of Dan Hutchinson and Max Duffin and although  Ian McPherson was taken to 5 ends in each match he came through both games, and with Ian and Max taking the doubles, Bombers came out 10- 0, to keep the hopes of the title alive

Comets v Brandon B

A terrific match between the current top team Comets, and a Brandon team rapidly gaining a name for themselves as difficult to beat. Regulars, Debbie and Nikki Irwin with Colin Pritchard were up against rising star Jamie Lupton, Paul Lupton and the terrific attacking play of Caroline Lee for Brandon. Colin Nikki and Debbie kept their hopes for promotion alive winning two each and Debbie and Nikki took the doubles as well, but MVP Jamie Lupton came through unbeaten on the night proving his position at the top of the rankings is no fluke. Final result 7-3 to Comets.
