Eagles v Unionist B

Eagles were at home to first division team Unionist B and had their usual squad of youngsters Jack Pugh, Haydn Williamson and Luke Dumighan. Unionist played Ray Purves, Ian Moore and Jamie Westwater. Jack Pugh started well against Ian Moore winning the first end 22-20 but then went down 22-20 in the next game, and lost out 21-14 in the final set. Luke came back strongly in his game beating Ray in 2 ends, and then Haydn beat Jamie 2-0. Luke went down in a very close game against Ian 2 ends at 21-19. The only Eagles successes after this were Jack and Luke  which eventually gave Unionists the 5-4 win but Eagle scan be proud of a fighting display against their opponents  and did the club proud.

Jack Pugh V Jordan Dove

These two youngsters are good friends except when playing table tennis and this was a ding dong game with Jordan attacking at every opportunity and Jack putting in his methodical defensive display, putting the ball back on the table. Games are always close between these two and this was no different with no more than 4 points difference in any game, but Jordan’s attacking display came through at the end to give him the spoils and move into the next round.

Bombers v Brandon Devils

A real cracker of a game that proved the handicapping was spot on with many close games going to 3 ends or 22-20. Each of the Bombers players, Nigel Coe Ian McPherson and Lee Maher won 2 games each but the team of Brandon, Paul Henderson, Bill McClennan and Alex Murphy managed 3 wins and pressed Bombers before going down 6-3.
