NESLC v Chargers

The game between Chargers and promotion chasing NESLC was tighter than predicted. NESLC with the very experienced Russell Roper, Pat Thomas and the attacking James Ainsley against Anna Kiwitt, Barry Dingwall and Peter Whitfield. James ended up player of the match with 3 singles win and combining with Russell to take the doubles but he was pushed all the way in his match against Peter who took him to a 5th end but fell away badly. Russell won two singles and Pat one with the attacking Anna for Chargers taking one game and Peter Whitfield taking 2 and involved in 5 ends in every game he played including the doubles, result 7-3 NESLC

Ouston A V Aces

Ouston have been having a good season with the new signings of Chris Walton and Dan Dodds joining Neil Rodgers, but unfortunately they were up against a revitalised Aces who have taken the league by storm this year particularly with their new player Waldemar Dzwonkowski who aided the ever reliable Ian McAllister with strong left hander Jon Mawson. Waldemar again won all his games without dropping an end and helped Ian take the doubles and with Ian chipping in with 2 and Jon with 1 a comfortable 7-3 win ensured Aces are still top of the table after week 5.

Bombers v Cram Corinthians

Cram Corinthians are currently leading the division and with Bombers being one game behind other teams they are currently placed in the bottom half of the league, but this game proved that they should be higher up in the league. Alan Hedley for Cram proved his imperious best by winning all his singles but he was taken all the way by Bombers Dan Hutchinson who really pressured him with his powerful attacking play. Lynsey Storey’s fast style also took two games, only failing in the most dynamic game of the night against Dan Hutchinson and with Dan Nicholson for Bombers taking one and Paul Jamieson managing 1 for Corinthians, and the doubles between the two Dans and Lynsey and Paul going Bombers way, the Sacriston team came away with a creditable 4 points in a 6-4 result.

Nomads v Sonics

A game played in a tremendous friendly spirit between the New College team of Paul Salkeld, Charlie Miller and Geoff Sykes for Nomads and the youthful Sonics team of Haydn Williamson, Jack Pugh and Charlie Coates.  Jack showed his greater match experience by taking all three games and he was backed up by 2 games from Charlie and 2 from Haydn and with Haydn and Jack combining to take the doubles they ran out 8-2 winners with only Paul on nomads winning 2 games.

Comets v Matfen A

After a shaky start in the 3rd division losing the first game 10-0 Comets were concerned about the season ahead, but things have been improving especially with the addition of Mark Walton who with the twins Nikki and Debbie Irwin took on Matfen A who had Peter Seago, Nigel tree and Alex Holliday. Mark won 2 and with Nikki picking up 1 they came away with 3 points score 7-3.

Desperadoes v Cramlington Magpies

A well balanced game between two of the more Junior teams in the league.

Max Duffin for Desperadoes was player of the match with 3 singles victories and Oliver Turnbull supported him with 2 wins. Luke Dumighan was really unlucky and although winning  a number of ends didn’t quite convert his games into victories. For the Magpies Alex Creighton scored 2 McKenzie Clark and Jamie Hall one each and Alex and Jamie combined for the doubles victory leaving the game 5-5.
