Club Report 27/10/13

Aces v Thompson B. A good game by Sacriston with both Duncan Fraser and Jon Mawson winning 2 but unfortunately Mark Walton on his debut was a little rusty and although taking matches all the way couldn’t convert any of them. Result 4-6

Bombers v Redby. With a team of Dan Nicholson, Ian McPherson and Dan Hutchinson, the opposition proved too strong with the wily Joe Muldowney and Howard Forster causing the problems, and the result was 4-6

Chargers v St Johns B – no report

Desperadoes v St John C. Max Duffin had a really good game and won two of his matches but Jack Pugh and Haydn Williamson struggled to back this up, result  2-8

Comets v Cramlington Lions – no report

Club news

There is no session at Framwellgate Moor this week over the Half term holiday

Club session at Fyndoune take place on Wednesday 6.30 – 8.30.

The Friday sessions are not providing enough players to justify costs so will probably be terminated soon, especially as it clashes with home games night at Freemans Quay.

Lanchester

Desperadoes team is Erin Harrison, Oliver Turnbull and Aidan McKie

The annual Tri Club challenge took place between Bishop Auckland, Lanchester and Sacriston at Bishop. The Lanchester and Bishop team had very experienced Regional Junior players in their Junior and Cadet squads and so it proved in the results. The Sacriston Junior team was all female and
Lois Ross on her debut   gave Tom Whittaker a tough game in one of her matches but failed to score. Both Erin Harrison and Laura Grant put up strong performances but generally were overshadowed by the strong opposition.

The Cadet team had more success and all of their games were very close, particularly in the doubles games. It was a really good performance from Oliver Turnbull, Max Duffin and Aidan McKie who did not let the club down.
Bronze medals were awarded to all the Sacriston players.

The new venues are proving very popular with club players, with games nights on Friday at Freemans Quay and club night at Fyndoune where 9 tables were occupied last Wednesday. However the venues are certainly more efficient at sending Hall Hire bills out, so the practise of leaving match fees until the end of the season will have to change, with fees now having to be paid up to date by Christmas, you have been warned.

The club is looking at introducing a membership fee for the current year at the rate of £10 per senior and £5 per Junior, more details to follow. Any comments let us know!
