Rugby PTTC has had a string of excellent results in the Leamington, Daventry and Coventry Leagues this year.
Following a ‘development’ year for the 2014/5 season, the first team was back to its winning ways in Division 1 of the Leamington League, finishing 17 points clear of their nearest rivals, making it a fourth top spot out of the past five years. Regular first team players Ryan Lines, Ryan Stockham, Matt Outhwaite and Adrian Pilgrim are all county players, and their league averages (around 90%) show why they are selected. Ryan Stockham was the overall Division 1 averages winner this year.
In Division 2 Rugby B team finish in second spot, with top player Danny Orr winning the Division 2 averages. Rugby C finished mid-table (6th) in the same division, while Rugby D and E were 10th and 4th respectively in Division 3.
The Leamington League 2-a-side divisions also saw success for Rugby teams. In the Autumn matches, Rugby H (Dan Burgess, Brad Smith and Jack Davidson) topped Division C and Rugby I (Angel Chen, William Chen and Tie Chen) won Division E. Following promotion, Dan Burgess had an impressive 100% record in Spring Division B, and the Chen family team continued their winning ways finishing top of Division D. This meant that Angel won the averages for the first half of the season and William was the averages winner for the Spring league.
In the newly formed Coventry 2-a-side league, Rugby B (Alex Bowe, George Marshall and Tyler Humphries) finished ahead of Rugby A (Josh Tyagi, Connor Invernizzi and Leo Carroll) in Division 1 in both the Autumn and Spring Leagues. Alex had an impressive 100% average across the entire season, being the only player to beat Josh Tyagi, who also had an excellent set of results.
Rugby A found the going tough in the Daventry league Division 1, but managed to avoid relegation. In contrast, Rugby B (Ian Evans, Jack Evans, Bradley Matthews and Raf Jaruszewski) were clear winners in Division 2, with Bradley Matthews winning all his matches and Jack Evans achieving an impressive 93.1%. Ian, Jack and Bradley were all invited to participate in the end of season ‘Top 8’ Division 2 tournament and Bradley finished his excellent season as the Division 2 winner.
