What can we say, the most exciting news has finally been confirmed for the Colchester & District Table Tennis League, with the backing of the teams at Matchroom Sports, the World Championship of Ping Pong (WCPP) and Rowhedge Table Tennis Club (RTTC) Colchester have been confirmed as one of the 6 venues in the UK to run a Satellite event with the goal of accumulating enough points through all the qualification events to get yourself to Alexandra Palace for the live event to be held at the beginning of January 2015 on Sky Sports 2.
The Satellite Events are open to 32 players (the main events are for 64 players) with 4 groups of 8. These Qualification Events must be run with the Matchroom and WCPP Events team here to adhere with all the rules, the bats and balls are supplied by them and will be the Dunlop sponsored Sandpaper Bats and these can be purchased from the Colchesters Event Planner Rik James at: email@example.com. We will also be running the double point ball at these qualification events.
There will be 16 places set aside for the players trying to gain the points to enter the Televised area but there will be 16 places available to entrants from local league players. The cost for the 16 local league qualifiers into main event is £20 for adults and £10 for Juniors (this goes direct to Matchroom). Now for the chance to play in this prestigious event (to be held at the end of July) which will be on a first come first served basis, there will be a pre qualification event (£5 to enter) to get to the final 16 entrants, so get your entries in quickly with an email to Rik James at: firstname.lastname@example.org
The Main WCPP Qualification Event being held at RTTC is on August 31st 2014 starting at 9.00am with the live draw at 9.30am, matches start at 10.00am and there will be prizes for the winners, runners up and losing semi finalists.
