In the first division, Amlwch A closed the gap at the top of the table to six points following a 10-0 win at Rhyl A. Barrie Russ took a game from Keith Williams and lost over five games to Ian Ault. Harold Furber played in the league for the first time this season and lost in a five-game thriller to Ian Ault. Trinity C is now ahead of Conwy A in the table having run out 7-3 winners when the two teams met this week. The strongest player here proved to David Daniels who secured his maximum without dropping a game. Josh Gilmore beat both Rob Walker and Graham Heath before losing out the Conway captain Steve Nicholls.
In the second division, Rhyl A have opened a gap of seven points with a game in hand of their rivals after disposing of bottom club Y Morfa B 10-0. Steve Lowe, John Hughes and Norman Stagg all secured a maximum without losing a game on the night. Craig-y-don B continue their progress up the table and is now second, following two good wins this week. They beat Police B 7-3 with a fine team performance Gary Blackmore, Ged Haresnape and Ady Waugh each won two singles and Ady and Gary teamed up to land the doubles. Later in the week they travelled to Rhyl and beat the Rhyl C 9-1. The match was closer than the score-line suggests with each of the Craig-y-don players taken to a fifth game decider. The final game of the night produced the closest game of the night and witnessed Marcus Jones representing Rhyl B beating Ged 14-12 in the decider. Amlwch B remain unbeaten in third and were held to a draw by Craig-y-don A. Nigel Watson proved the strongest player here winning his three singles matches, two in very tight five-game affairs. Craig-y-don A led 5-3, but Caren Ault and George Higham won the last two singles to maintain the islanders unbeaten record.
