In the Handicap Cup final, first division Police A were given the task of restricting second divisionRhyl B below an average of twenty-nine points in ten forty-up encounters. Mark Pugh the strongest player on show ensured that his teammates had a little leeway when he restricted the Rhyl B players to 17, 16 and 12 points in the singles and with Roger Lee’s support 28 in the doubles. However Rhyl B fought back, in particular John Hughes beat Roger Lee to 35 and James Wan to 38. Further, bothNorman Stagg and Dave Foster both met their targets against James Wan achieving 30 and 38 points respectively. The these events meant that the final was to be decided on the last game. Here Mark Pugh ensured a twenty-point win for Police A beating Dave Foster 40-16.
