In the first division, surely Amlwch A have opened a unclosable gap of thirty points over Trinity A with further thirteen points back to third placed Y Morfa. They eased past bottom of the table Rhyl A 10-0, with Ian Ault, Keith Williams and Reg John securing their maximums without dropping a game.
Trinity B and Amlwch B shared the points, here Mark Bryant beat both Stuart Dearden and Chris Phillips in five game thrillers and teamed up with Emyr Owen in the doubles to help Amlwch B win four points on the night. The match was in the balance when Chris and Stuart won two singles each for Trinity B and Claire Brewster on debut for the islanders, beat Trinity B captain Rob Stuart over four games. Captain Rob ensured a draw by beating Emyr in a topsy-turvy five-game clash.
The Conwy A match with Y Morfa proved to be another enthralling contest with five games going to a fifth game decider and another four going into a fourth game. Graham Heath representing Conwy Aproved the strongest player on the night winning all three of his singles matches. Conwy’s Andy Lunt seemed to be out of luck losing in five to both Chris Henderson and Colin McEvoy. In the final encounter of the night against Andy Horton, he was 0-6 down in yet another fifth game decider. It became 4-9 before Andy Lunt summoned some inspirational attacking play to win the game 11-9 and the match 6-4 in favour of Conwy A.
In the second division, the Rhyl derby went the way of Rhyl B who is now top of the league having won more matches than Trinity C. The 10-0 victory leaves Rhyl C eight points adrift of Denbigh C at the bottom of the league. In the divisional individual standings, maximums for Norman Stagg, Dave Foster and John Hughes ensures they are first, fourth and eleventh in the table.
