Nottingham quartet take on world

Four University of Nottingham table tennis players are spearheading Great Britain’s efforts at the World University Games, which start in Chinese Taipei next week.

Multiple Commonwealth Games medallist and this year’s BUCS champion Danny Reed leads the contingent, alongside Adam Harrison and Robert Gordon University’s Colin Dalgleish in the men’s event.

The women’s team features Maria Tsaptsinos and Yolanda King alongside Chloe Thomas of Bournemouth University.

Tsaptsinos and the rest of the team has been hard in training in preperation. Watch some of the videos from Maria’s twitter page below.

Team qualification begins on Tuesday and the competition continues until August 29 with singles, doubles and mixed doubles also on the programme.

Held biennially in major cities across the globe, the event, also known as the Summer Universiade, is the second largest multi-sport event after the Olympics, bringing athletes together to compete across 22 sports.

At the last Summer Universiade in 2015, the Brits made it to the round of 32 in the table tennis.
