After Week 9

Individual 100% records for those who have played at least half of the matches so far, have tumbled in the past couple of weeks and only Paul Malkin from the Ball Green A team has kept his intact. Bradwell A’s Paul Myatt put paid to fellow Ball Green A player, Chris Bailey’s record last week, but the Ball Green A team still had a 7-3 win over the Bradwell A team. The big clash in the Premier Division next week sees the old Ball Green B team, now the A  team, facing the former A team, now the B team, at Ball Green on Wednesday. With the A team on a 100% record and the B team just one point adrift, it should be another great match and one to watch.

In Division 1, the Penkhull B side of Robert Rhodes, Mircea Ionel and Andy Smith team had a good 7-3 win over their own C team with Mircea taking the scalp of Robert Majkut, who had previously been undefeated. Mircea Ionel was player of the match and the Penkhull B team now top the division. A 10-0 win for Ball Green E over a depleted MESC C team saw Ball Green move into the 2nd place and Penkhull C are now down in third place. Down at the bottom the Kidsgrove C team earned themselves a very valuable two points with a 6-4 win over Bradwell E, which saw a new young player, Steven Gao, a student at Keele, debuting for the Bradwell team and earning a win over Garry Owen. The Kidsgrove B team didn’t do themselves any favours as far as their hopes for promotion are concerned, as they were held to a draw by lowly Bradwell F, mainly due to Neil Colville’s maximum.

Down in Division 2, the clash between Kidsgrove F, up near the top and hoping for promotion, against their own E team, resulted in a draw, with Lucas Clarke gaining a maximum for the F team. This has left the F team down in third spot, but only 1 point behind MESC D and Ball Green K who share the top place, but MESC do have a game in hand. Topping the averages is Stefan Derricutt, from the Kidsgrove D team, closely followed by Joe Allen from MESC D, next comes Lucas Clarke and then Margaret Riley, also from the MESC D team, all having over an 80% average.
