Portishead win summer league title

Portishead Table Tennis Club have won the final trophy of the season after claiming the Bristol Table Tennis Summer League trophy.

The handicap competition, which is run over the summer, started off with 27 teams from across Bristol – eight of which were entered from Portishead.

The finals, played on Saturday 21st September at Almondsbury Table Tennis Club, involved the six best teams that had qualified through the group stages.

After the morning knock out session, Portishead Congers and defending champions, Portishead Sharks, had qualified to reach a three-way final, which also included a Page team.

Portishead Congers, made up of Joe Ratajczak, Muz Brittain, Derek Connop and 11-year-old Milan Gal, stepping up as a replacement for finals day, won the title.

This is the second season in a row that a team from Portishead has lifted the trophy following the Sharks success last year.
