Division 1

Almost at the half way point in the season, and the division 1 crown looks like it will be going to Ajax Wolvey A as they have not dropped a point in the last 2 weeks, and indeed none since the first game of the season, and the 2 teams on the receiving end in the last 2 weeks were Boys Club B, who are in equal bottom place with NALGO D, but the crunch game was against 2ndplace Ambleside Experts, but they seem to have too much strength in depth, with Dave Grundy playing for the first time this year, and winning all three, together with the undefeated Jon Williams and Aiden Walsh. The ‘experts’ bounced back the following week with a maximum 10-0 win against a weakened NALGO D side, playing reserves from Div 2. Only 3 points separate 2ndand 3rdplaced, Ambleside E and Boys Club A, and this should make for an interesting  game when they meet in week 7.  Crescent A have moved up 3 places with some good results in the last 2 weeks drawing 5-5 with Boys Club B, although Elliott Clarke took the man of the match title by winning all 3 of his games, then Crescent beat Stockingford  B 6-4, but Bob Whittaker of Stockingford proved to be an unmovable object by winning all his 3 games, as he also did when they lost 7-3 to 4thplaced NALGO B. The bottom two teams, Boys Club B and NALGO D, both have 17 points, and they meet in a crunch clash in week 7.

Division 2

Ambleside H continue in top spot with a 10 point lead over 2ndplace NALGO F, although the rest of the league is very close with only 9 points separating 2ndto 6thplace. Ambleside H had easy wins against Ajax C 8-2 and NALGO E 9-1, and Aaron Riley being the man to beat in this division as he made a maximum in both matches, and continues unbeaten at the top of the averages. Pete Morris of Ajax pushed him close in their game only losing 12-10 in the final set. NALGO F have jumped up the league and sit in 2ndplace, with an easy run out against bottom placed Ajax Wolvey B with a maximum 10-0 win, and followed this with an 8-2 win against Stockingford A, with Pete Johnson and Martin Kimberley both getting maximum wins. Ajax Wolvey C have not had the best time over the last 2 weeks losing both their matches and dropping to 3rdplace, having lost to the leaders, and then  losing 6-4 to the Fire Brigade. This match was finely balanced with 5 of the games being played to 5 sets, and the pick of the games being Les Moore winning his first game of the season by beating Wayne Harris over 5 sets. Fire Brigade had another 6-4 win against Ambleside A, which was a good result given the fact that they played a player short, and Steve Smith making a maximum in the process.  Ajax Wolvey B are not finding it easy in this division finding themselves rooted to the bottom of the division 15 points adrift from NALGO E who also have a game in hand.

Division 3

The top two teams in this division, Ajax Wolvey D and Crescent B look like they are starting to pull away from the rest of the league, with Wolvey retaining top spot with a 7 points lead, although Crescent B have a game in hand. Wolvey D have had two maximum wins 10-0 against Ambleside D and Wolvey E. Geoff Taylor’s unbeaten run continued throughout these games and remains at the top of the averages as a result. Crescent B had a good maximum win against Ambleside B, and then played against their sister team Crescent C who follow them in 3rdspot. Farhan Bham continued his good form by winning all his 3 games, and Akbar Razak providing the main resistance by winning the 2 games for the C side. In week 5, Crescent C also had a close match with Ambleside D with honours shared  5-5 after winning the final doubles.

Ambleside F are in 4thplace, but again have a game in hand, and they have had a close win 6-4 against Boys Club C, with Joe Wright and Matt Jackson both having maximum wins. They also had a fairly easy win 9-1 against bottom placed Wolvey E. Boys Club C are now putting some good results together, including a maximum win against 2ndbottom Ambleside B, and should move further up the table. Ambleside B and Ajax Wolvey C find themselves in the bottom 2 places and are still looking for their first win, so they are both hoping to change this when they meet in week 7.
