League Update 13th August
Paul Baines was the man of the match when St.Chads visited the league leaders, Cramlington Stingers in the first division of the Northumbria Summer League beating all three of the home side. However Dale Aitkenhead and Mark Christie each won their other two sets for the Casuals,  combined to win the doubles, and with Duncan Wraight getting one the leaders had a 6 – 4 victory to stay ahead of Springwell.
The North East Chinese Association have moved into a promotion place in division two following two away victories. Chen Xuan Ji won all of his sets against the Sacriston Bombers to help them to a 6 –4 win although Peter Smallcombe and Max Duffin did their best to deny them with two sets each. The Chinese followed up by winning 7 – 3 at Ouston when Yi Zhou got a hat-trick.  Neil Rodgers won twice for the home side with victories over Ji and Ken Lee.
It is very close at the top of division three where only four points separate the top three  with only one match to play.  Leaders Springwell B easily accounted for Matfen  and third placed Brinkburn were not really troubled by Ouston B but current second placed Lanchester were held to a draw by Byker B thanks mainly to a hat- trick from Lee Eadington. The leaders go to Byker in their final match while Brinkburn and Lanchester meet each other.
Division four has been settled after the clash between the two top teams at Cramlington when the leaders Corinthians  side of Angus Poole, Pauline Long and Adrian Barnes ran out 9 – 1 winners despite five of the ten sets going to a fifth game after Matt Greenwood had won the very first set of the , defeating Long. Consolation for the visitors was the fact that they finish as runners up.
