League update 14th of June
Sacriston Aces gained their first win of the season in the First Division of the Northumbria Summer league when unbeaten performances by Ian McAllister and Jon Mawson helped them to beat a weakened Cramlington Casuals 7 – 3.  Saint Chads had Paul Baines in top form, winning three in a drawn match with Seaburn Dene. Jimmy Scope got the other two  and Chris Dixon won twice for the Dene.
Byker A and Springwell A  shared the points with Byker’s Dave Robson unbeaten. Jim Stamas and John Williamson both got two for the opposition.
Division two leaders Old England had to fight hard for a 6 – 4 victory when they visited the young Sacriston Bombers side after leading 5 – 1. Twelve year old Peter Smallcombe defeated Lynne Herrington and Jake Helm but narrowly lost out to Joe Muldowney who won all of his matches for the visitors.
Springwell B were beaten for the first time in Division three when they entertained Lanchester A. Dave Fosberg did best with two victories but Dave McAllister won all three for the away team as well as taking the doubles with Andrew Firth who also got two singles to give Lanchester a 6 – 4 victory. The Tynedale derby match between Matfen B and Whitley Chapel ended up all square with Chapel’s Stefan Sobell undefeated.
In Division four  Cramlington Corinthians and Sacriston Comets both retained their 100% records with victories over Brandon Bees and Brandon Crocodiles respectively.
Matfen C are well established at the top of Division Five but they were given a very hard match by the young Cramlington Magpies for whom Tim Bryce got two, Will Capps and Andrew Matfin one each. However  the experienced Tom Manuel was undefeated and Dan Potter won twice as  Matfen  edged home 6 – 4
