League Update 20th June
Cramlington Stingers team of Dale Aitkenhead, Bonne Habekost and Iain Wood defeated Seaburn Dene 10 – 0 in the first division of  the Northumbria Summer League to move within two points of the leaders Cramlington Casuals. Saint Chads also won 10 – 0 when they entertained Springwell with Keith Weatherby, Jimmy Scope and Chris Blake too good for the opposition to retain the club’s unbeaten record and stay in contention with a match in hand. Maurice Cheek, Rob Scott and Shirley Gelder all won one set for Riding Mill against YMCA North Tyneside but unbeaten performances by Rob Reed and Nigel Rodgers took the YMCA to a 7 – 3 victory and left their oponents still seeking their first win.
Another unbeaten performance from Waldemar Dzwonkowski helped Sacriston Aces to beat Ouston A 7 – 3 and they have now have  a lead of five points in division two  over North Fire who defeated NECA A 6 – 4 thanks mainly to a hat-trick from Frank Lasek. Two sets each by Arran Kent, Duncan Wraight and Gareth Pearson plus the doubles gave Cramlington Corinthians a 7 – 3 win over Old England and Charlie Mouzon was unbeaten in Springwell B teams 6 – 4 success at Mortimer.
Alex Holliday had a good week in the third division getting hat-tricks for both Matfen A and b teams who beat Sacriston Comets and Whitley Chapel respectively. Corinthians had Alan Hedley in good form with three sets to come away from Sacriston Bombers with a 6 – 4 win under their belts while   Lanchester shared the points with the Knights with Dave McAllister undefeated.
Brandon and Byshottles team of Simon Knopf, John Spencer and John Leeman retained their 100% record in the fourth division with a convincing 10 – 0 win over the Jaguars and second placed NESLC beat Sacrison Chargers 7 – 3. Ouston B came away from NECA B with a 6 – 4 victory and Sacriston Desperadoes came back from 3 – 5 down to draw with Cramlington Magpies.
