League Update 26th March
Ellis Cooper retained the Norman Moore Memorial Cup in  the Junior Boys Singles at the Northumberland Junior Tournament. After beating Ross Davison in the quarters and Thaaqib Saleem in the semi finals he took  the title with victory over Dean Richardson in a repeat of last year’ final. Richardson had put out top cadet player Arran Kent in the semis.
Kent, however retained the cadet crown and the Harry Dignan Cup when he defeated Lanchester’s  Saleem in the final of the Cadet Boys.
The Junior Girls event was won by Erin Harrison of Sacriston with Lauren Cook of Lanchester taking second spot in a round robin competition while Shelley Brogden (John Spence) won the Cadet Girls with Cramlington’s Anna Sowerby the runner up.
Sam Hume of Lanchester came out on top in the Under 13s beating beating James Bedingfield, also from Lanchester.
Cramlington’s Gareth Rickaby was the winner of the under 12s with victory in the final over Sam Carter of John Spence.
The Northumberland Senior Tournament takes place on Sunday at the Sporting Club, Cramlington starting at 9.00a.m. Top seeds in the Mens are Andrew Wilkinson and Eddie Smith with Karen Henry and Lynne Herrington favourites to contest the final of the Womens Singles.
Springwell had a good win in the Premier Division of the Northumbria League when Colin Hunt and Dave Pringle got two sets each and Alex Smith one in a 6- 4 win at Cramlington Stingers. Bonne Habekost won all of his matches for the losing side.
