League Update 28th November
NESLC Eagles team of Jim Stamas, Steve Penman and Richard Wilson defeated YMCA North Tyneside 7 - 3 despite Andrew Dryden winning all of his sets for the YM and take over as leaders of the Northumbria League Premier Division by one point from Cramlington Casuals. Jimmy Scope was in great form for Saint Chads when they visited Cramlington Reivers and his three victories earned his team a share of the spoils.
The signing of Tony Gelder by first division Old England Jacks is paying dividends and they are now top of the first division, their latest success being 7 - 3 against Riding Mill B.  Young Arran Kent was in fine form for Matfen A getting a hat-trick against Cramlington Trojans in an 8 - 2 victory  as did Phil Rainford.
YMCA North Tyneside B, leaders of division two, were beaten for the first time this season when they visited Cramlington Cobras despite leading 3 - 2 at one stage thanks to two wins by Jim Robertson plus success in the doubles when Robertson and Ron Scott defeated John Morton and Duncan Wraight. The Cobras then won the next four to eventually take the match 6 - 4, Morton winning all of his sets, Wraight getting two and Alan Hedley one. The win puts the Cobras within three points of the leaders as are Mortimer who beat Newton B 6 - 4 thanks mainly to three victories from Dave Bannon.
Saints moved off the bottom of the table by beating two man Old England Crocks with Ray Joynson winning both of his matches.
Cramlington Swifts are still at the top of division three despite two successive 6 - 4 defeats at the hands of Matfen B and Old England FATTS although the teams below them now all have games in hand with FATTS still unbeaten.
Newcastle Communities B moved into second spot in division four when they came away from Cramlington Jaguars with a 6 - 4 win.
Yi Chen was too good for the opposition and won all of his sets with ease while Nick Yuen and John Gallagher got one each. Ken Brown and Mick Sursham managed two each for the home side.
