Misfits still have the lead in division 1, while Holsworthy A are scoring really well to hold to second spot. Division 2 looks like being a close affair with Holsworthy D and Littleham fighting for top spot at the moment.
In division 2, Littleham showed no mercy to Holsworthy C, running out 9-1 winners. Dave Stone dropped just one game while Mike Bellew came out on top in a number of close games.
Tim Cooke starred for Paddlers in a potential top of table clash versus Holsworthy D. He held his nerve to beat Nathan Jukes 13-11 in the fifth and Brandon Forsyth 16-14 in a final game. However the D's with Nathan and Brandon picking up two apiece held on to win 6-4.
Elswhere, Malc Overson and Richard Nicholls (3 wins each) kept Despicables in front of Chulmleigh Chiefs. All contests bar one unusually ending in three games. Holsworthy B were guided by Barry Stearman to an 8-2 victory over the Vice. Jill Knightly just lost a very tight match against Bob Taylor, but won her other two, as did Jeremy Rickman.
TSTP were aided by super-sub Thomas Venn to heap pressure on Dolphins. His three wins included a very tight contest against Sam Coutu-Oughton – that one going to deuce in the fifth. Dave Moore also gained a notable treble. Derek Preston came in with the Dolphins solitary point.
In division 1, Holsworthy A and Chulmleigh A had a marathon evening which went to Holsworthy 7-3 but it could easily have been a different story. Dave Salisbury had three good wins, holding his nerve in the tight ones, with a supporting two from Helen Murgatroyd. Pawel Ciebien was the mainstay of the Chulmleigh team. Spare a thought for Kevin Davies who came away empty handed but each of his matches were really close.
Martin Eyles and Dave Streak continued their fine form for Nets and Edges in a 7-3 win at Chulmleigh B. Neither of them dropped a game all evening. The doubles was a very close five setter which provided a needed point for the home team.
McDonalds and Co are forcing the others to take notice. Ben Taylor was in fine form against Spin Doctors – not dropping a game – while James Raymont is clearly going well taking two points against tough opponents.
Smugglers' Matthew Thomas was in no mood for charity against Herons. His three wins were backed by two from Peters Dunstan and Hedge. Bill Tregellas maintained his fine start to the season with two good victories. Rob Gale must have felt the gods were against him, losing two very close games – the match against Peter Dunstan going to 13-11 in sets 4 and 5!
The Misfits trio of Daniel Moore, Keith le Milliere and Peter Kneil kept themselves at the top of the table with an 8-2 thumping of Balls of Fury. Daniel Moore won all three, while Marcus Berry fought well to gain the Balls consolation points.
