Week 20 Report

Week 20 report

In division1 , with one game left Torrington A have a 5 point lead over Misfits, with Smugglers third - a game in hand but too far back to challenge.

Torrie had a 7-3 win over Smugglers, with Kevin Taylor winning all three, supported by 2 wins from Ben.  Matthew Thomas won two of Smugglers points.  There is a title decider next week, as Misfits host Torrington, needing an 8-2 win to take the title.

Nets and Edges lost 4-6 to misfits but scored enough to put a dent in their ambitions.  Harry Thomas won two for the Edges but Daniel Moore was in good form with 3 wins for Misfits, and Martyn Beer picked up two.  Balls of Fury had a good win at Spin Doctors. Wim Faassen led the way with a maximum and Alan Cheung won two 5 leg contests. Michael Sussex picked up two points for the Doctors.

In division 2 Chulmleigh B still have a 20 point lead over Holsworthy B, and look fairly secure.

Result of the week (depending on your viewpoint) was Simply Smashing's 9-1 win at Holsworthy A. Helen Murgatroyd won the consolation point but triples from James Raymont and Jack Thomas set the Smashers on course.  Second place for Holsworthy A looks difficult now.

Holsworthy B beat West Buckland 6-4.  Dave Streak's 100% record was not endangered.  He was supported by Barry Stearman with two wins. Minions and Littleham also had a good contest, with Minions running out 6-4 winners.  Bill Tregellas was in good form for Minions with 3 wins, though he was pushed hard by Mike Bellew.  Steve Richardson supported win two points while Dave Stone won two for the Littleham team.

Holsworthy C were too strong for the Vice, winning 8-2. Doug Geneini has been in good form lately and picked up another 3 wins.  Alan Quilter and Rob Woodhouse each picked up two points, as did Bob Taylor for the Vice.

Paddlers were too strong for Despicables.  Mike Hill and Rob Gale both scored maximum points.  Nice to see Bill and Buddy Wahl, both league reserves, playing - on opposite sides.  Both picked up 1 point.  Buddy beat his Dad in the fifth game!
