Week 17 report

Week 17 report – w/b 12 February

Some postponements this week, so a full round-up is not possible.  However, the league tables are looking fairly set now.  Division1 has Torrie A on 112 with Misfits now back on 99.  Chulmleigh B were the big winners in Division 2. They now lead by 20 points with Paddlers starting to push Holsworthy B for second place, trailing them by just 4 points.

In Division 1 the leaders beat Nets and Edges 10-0, with unbeaten runs by Kevin and Ben Taylor and Chris Thompson. James Raymont -fresh from the Gus Maitland win – was playing up a division and was very close in two of his matches.

Chulmleigh A shared the points with Balls of Fury in a 5-5 draw.  That outcome was decided by the fifth set of the doubles.  Marcus Berry won all three for Balls of Fury backed up by two points from Steve Richardson, who was playing up. Jon Taylor won two for the Chulmleigh team.

Chulmleigh B had a good 9-1 win over Littleham, cementing their grip on the silverware for division 2.  Harry Collins and Dave Gray both had maximum wins while Dave Stone scored Littleham's only consolation, though Mike Bellew was close in all his games.

Holsworthy B missed their top scorer, going down 2-8 to Paddlers, with Barry Stearman picking up the consolation 2 points.  Rob Gale led the Paddlers with 3 wins, Tim Cooke and Mike Hill both scoring two points.

No maximum points for anyone in Minions 7-3 win at Holsworthy C.  Doug Genini played well for two of his side's wins, while there were doubles for Lindsey Wright, Dennis Jones and Steve Richardson. In the other match, West Buckland were too strong for Chulmleigh Chiefs.  Good to see Rob Baker back – he won all three as did Alan Briggs.  Chiefs consolation was won by Joey Butt, though Cilla King is certainly getting closer in her games.

Composed by Steve Richardson.
