Week 24 report

Division 2 round-up - final full week of season

The main issues are now sorted. Chulmleigh B were assured of their title a couple of weeks ago, while Paddlers have made the second spot theirs in the last week. Well done to these two teams.

In the averages Dave Streak is still on course for a 100% season (don't want to tempt fate!) with one match to go. Rob Gale is second on 91.67% with Dave Salisbury just behind on 87.88%. Fine performances here!

In this weeks league matches, Doug Genini stands out with a great maximum score against a strong Simply Smashing team. Rhys Eyles and James Raymont picked up two points each for the Smashers.

Champions Chulmleigh B showed their mettle with a 10-0 thrashing of Despicables. Gerard O'Boyle was 'man of the match'  - ably assisted by Dave Gray and Shaun Clarke.

Dolphins had a tough evening against West Buckland going down 9-1. Mike Fawcett picked up the consolation point, but Dave Moore, Tom Venn and Alan Briggs were too strong on the night. The doubles was a close run affair though.

Holsworthy B were pushed by Dave Streak to a 6-4 win over Minions. The 100% record was never really threatened, while Bill Tregellas and Barry Stearman recorded two wins each for their respective sides.

Dave Salisbury and Helen Murgatroyd had good evenings against Littleham, winning all of their games, in an 8-2 victory. The rapidly improving Nathan Jukes had a really close 5 set contest against Mike Bellew which went to Mike 11-9 in the fifth.

Finally, Chulmleigh Chiefs shared the points with The Vice. Bob Taylor, back from a clearly invigorating holiday, won his three. Joey Butt who has had a good season chipped in with two wins for the home team. Chris Isaac, Ernie Maud and Trevor Reynolds all won on the evening to show their improvement. Good to see Pete White again.

The final of the Ramsey was contested by Chulmleigh Chiefs and Holsworthy A. Nice to see teams outside division 1 in the final! A really close and exciting set of games ensued – all except one going to the third set. Congratulations to Nathan Jukes, Dave and Owen Salisbury on a 5-3 victory.

Notes for your diary – the division 2 doubles will be on Tuesday 8 May at Instow. The division 2 singles will be the following week, but I am not sure of the day yet.
