Week 3 Report 2018-19

Week 3 report – 13/10/2018

by Steve Richardson

The tables are perhaps starting to take shape! Misfits – probably pre-season favourites – now have a 4 point lead in division 1. In the second division, Holsworthy D are looking strong with a 6 point lead, while both they and Littleham have won all their matches so far.

Misfits took on Spin Doctors and certainly didn't have it all their own way. The Doctors Michael Sussex had a brilliant night against tough opponents – beating Daniel Moore in one game 23 – 21! Misfits each won two games, though Dave Morgan was 'sick as a parrot' losing two contests 12 -10 in the fifth.

Holsworthy A are going well, hammering Chulmleigh B 9-1. Steve Cragg and Dave Salisbury picking up all three. Smugglers also had a good win against McDs ( 7-3). Ben Taylor won his three for the fast food boys, though Martin Babulik pushed him all the way. His game against Harry Thomas was a very tight affair.

Chulmleigh A came to Herons for the first ever clash and went away the happier.  Kevin Davies won his three in imperial style ably backed up by Jon Taylor and Harry Collins with 2 each.  Bill Tregellas replied with 2 for the Herons, but it was the doubles that provided the shock, with Rob Gale and Mike Hill upstaging the A team to make the score 7-3 to Chulmleigh.

Turning to division 2, Dolphins have certainly had better nights. The Holsworthy D trio of Ashley Taylor, Nathan Jukes and Dave Sillifant were in rampant form in a 10-0 win.  The Ds had a second game against TSTS – a side with title aspirations. The Holsworthy team were in no mood for niceties and destroyed them 9 -1 – Messrs Taylor and Sillifant increasing their weekly points total to 6 each.

Littleham's win over a strong Holsworthy B side was probably the result of the week. There were plenty of close contests. Dave Stone held his nerve to come out undefeated, while Alan Pomeroy is scoring well this season.

Alan Quilter is also going well this season, picking up a maximum against Despicables for Holsworthy C. Doug Genini providing able back up with 2 points in a 7-3 win. It could have been a closer score – a number went to a fifth game, invluding the doubles.

Captain Tim Cooke and Lindsey Wright had a good time against the Vice – each on three wins in an 8 -2 result. For Lindsey, this included bragging rights for a time thanks to victory over her Dad!

Finally TSTSs week got a bit better in Chulmleigh on Friday night. Alan Briggs led the way with a triple against the Chiefs in a 7-3 result. Joey Butt was in good form for the Chiefs with two wins.
