Week 4 Report

                                    Week 4 report  -  w/b 16 October

Lots of talking points in Division 2 this week. First of all,  congratulations to Sue Jackson of Despicables. She won her first league match – against Dolphins – and was pushing for a second point. After a blank first year, this victory in her second season has been coming for a while, and it will not be the last. Well done, Sue! Dolphins also won their first points of the season,  thanks to Mike Fawcett(2) and Alan Pemberton. Hopefully, this will kick-start their season, although they still lost 7-3 to Despicables with Malc Overson scoring a triple.

Minions had a good win – 9-1 – against Holsworthy C. Lindsey Wright for Minions played very consistently to record her first triple in the league. Well done, Lindsey. Steve Richardson also recorded a maximum score.

Holsworthy B are looking a good bet for the title at the minute. This week, they recorded a 7-3 win against Paddlers. David Streak was in imperious form, winning his three without dropping a game. Jill Knightly backed up with 2. Rob Gale's 2 was the main resistance.

Chulmleigh B had a good 7-3 win against Littleham, with Dave Grey and Harry Collins both scoring maximum points. Simply Smashing lived up to their name again,  showing no mercy to The Vice in a 10-0 win. Triples from Dave Sweeney, Rhys Eyles and Jack Thomas.

Friday night's match at Chulmleigh saw a good encounter between the Chiefs and West Buckland. West Buckland won 7-3 thanks to 2 points each from Jai and Dave Moore and Alan Briggs. However, it was not all one way traffic and Joey Butt did well to pick up two wins, while Trevor Reynolds beat the difficult Alan Briggs.

Division 1 saw some tight games. Martin Eyles led the way for Nets and Edges scoring three in a 7-3 win over Chulmleigh A. Lee Farrant continued his good form for Balls of Fury with 2 points against Smugglers, but the Smugglers stole away with a 7-3 win. Two points each for Peter Hedge, Martin Babulik and Matthew Thomas.

Spin Doctors fought hard to prevent themselves being casualties against Misfits. The final score was 6-4 to Misfits, with a very strong performance from Daniel Moore (3) backed up by two from Martyn Beer. Michael Sussex led the Spin Doctors with a good double, and the game with Daniel Moore was a particularly tight affair.
