Week 11 Report

Week 11 Report – w/b 4 December

Dolphins record first victory of season

The big news of the week comes from the depths of division 2, where Dolphins won their first victory of the season – 6-4 against the Chiefs. Well Done Dolphins! Two points each for Alan Slade, Dave Harman and Mike Fawcett were enough to see them through in an evening of tight games. Elsewhere in that division, West Buckland picked up useful points over Holsworthy C in an 8-2 win. Maximum scores went to Rob Baker and Jai Moore.

Paddlers overcame Liitleham 7-3 thanks to three from Rob Gale with Tim Cooke chipping in with two. Dave Stone pushed Rob hard, losing 8-11 in the fifth. Minions had a good win over Holsworthy A. Bill Tregellas played well to win all three, with Dave Andrews and Dennis Jones on two each. Dave Salisbury's two wins provided the main resistance, while the doubles was very close, going to Holsworthy 11-8 in the deciding set.

Table topping Chulmleigh B gave a faultless performance winning 10-0 over Simply Smashing. Harry Collins, Dave Gray and Shaun Clarke scored maximum points.  It could have been a closer score but Chulmleigh managed to keep their nerve in the number of games that went to deuce.

In the final game, Holsworthy B won 6-4 at Despicables. Barry Stearman and Jill Knightly won two each for the visitors. Malc Overson won all of his three games for Despicables, while league reserve Buddy Wahl picked up a good win in his first outing in the league.

In division 1, there was a cracking drawn match between Misfits and Spin Doctors. Daniel Moore starred winning his three games, while Michael Sussex and Dave Ewen won two each for the Doctors. Just as the score was close, there were plenty of close individual games too.

Smugglers were too strong for Balls of Fury. Terry Wright and Peters Hedge and Dunstan won two each. Marcus Berry put up some stiff resistance winning his three. In the other game in division 1, Nets and Edges beat Chulmleigh A 9- 1. Callum Ackland, who hasn't featured much so far this year, won a good three points, as did Martin Eyles. Jon Taylor won the Chulmleigh point. This could have been a closer score as Kevin Davies was on the wrong side of two very close matches.
