Championship Report from Tarka Centre Sunday 12th March 2017

5 championships were held namely:-
Singles.Doubles. Handicap Singles. Vets Singles. Vets Singles Plate ( a first ).
All were played up to and including the semi-final ( there will be a finals night ).
All events were pre booked, there were 73 entries for the various competitions and there were no cancellations. Excellent support.
A total of 256 individual games were played, with players from teams at Instow, Torrington, Chulmleigh, Holsworthy, West Buckland and Monkleigh taking part, plus obviously individuals from the centres of population with no named team.

I have to thank all those who helped in whatever category on the day, stepped in when needed and made the day a sporting and social success. Thanks to Tarka and Mathew Thomas for use of the superb venue.
Invidious to name individuals, but well done to Dave Ewen, 2 finals in his first season and Thomas Venn who I believe is the youngest finalist in a seniors competition since the millennium. The other finalists have all got previous, with the exception of Barry Stearman and Steve Richardson from Division 2 who will compete for the plate.
The date for finals night will be promulgated as soon as possible.
Juniors ( under 18/under 14 ) on 25th March at Bideford, 2 o clock start, enter on day.
The other Championships, Ladies, Div 2, Div3 will be held at the close of the season.
