WEEK 5 REPORT
Ashford Hill Ramblers remain unbeaten after a comfortable 8-2 defeat of Thatcham C with Sam Ricks and John Goodyer both winning three each and they look early favourites for the championship.
Kintbury Titans lost 6-4 to a strong Woolton Hill Badgers team with Malcolm Cummins winning all his games three straight and with a double from Rich Fettes who just failed to get his treble when losing 11-9 in the decider against Tom Watmore.Cummins and Fettes also taking the doubles .
Thatcham A and Upton fought out a draw with Matt Davies getting a maximum for Upton but had to fight all the way to beat Tony Brown 9-11,11-8,11-9,10-12, 11-9 . Brown and John Golding both had two wins for the Thatcham side.
Woolton Hill Eagles top the league but have played more matches and they had a 6-4 win over Thatcham Colts with Ian Langley and Antony Baker both winning twice as did Joseph Cornmell and Keith Russell for the Colts.Eagles winning the doubles secured the win .
Patrick Garlick won all his singles and helped win the doubles but his team Thatcham Lions still lost to Kintbury Jog by 6-4 with Mark Wheeler , Adam Pacyne and Ian Wu all winning twice.
AWE are the early pace setters and achieved a win and a draw this week First they had a 7-3 victory over Thatcham Spartans with a maximum from George Wilson and two each from John McLarty and Bob Harris They then entertained Thatcham Scorpions whom had Bill Stamatiou to thank for a fine maximum to earn them a share of the points McLarty and Wilson both getting a brace each for AWE.
Ian Wu's treble helped his Kintbury Cobra's side to their second win of the season and although resistance was shown by Alan Fuller and Archie Dyson with two wins each Wu and Jenny Tanner won the doubles to get a 6-4 victory.
Thatcham Scavengers continue to impress and beat Ashford Hill Misfits 6-4 with three fron Niall McGrain to keep his 100% record Denise Weller and Wendy Porter both won twice for Misfits
Three each from Ian Cooling and Jeremy Skelton was enough for Thatcham Choppers to beat Thatcham Spartans 7-3
Two of the top teams met with Insufferables just beating Outlaws by 6-4 with some very close matches Rohit Sengupta had to work hard for his treble just beating David Taylor in five and previously unbeaten I an Ardis in four his team mate Bob Nash winning twice. Ardis was top man for Outlaws winning two.
Woolton Hill Racketeers had a scrap with the youngsters from Thatcham Tornado's just getting home in the last singles 11-9 in the decider to win 6-4 Panos Stemitsiotis getting a maximum and Ron Hill winning twice. Michael Sopp had a fine double for Tornado's narrowly losing to Stemitsiotis
Thatcham A and E were the winners against Thatcham Dragons by 6-4 with Lorraine Mortimer getting a hat trick including a 4 set win over previously unbeaten Sajish Pavithran she was backed up by Bill Bavister who had two wins .Pavithran had a double for Dragons .
Thatcham Spitfires were too strong for Woolton Hill Woodpeckers defeating them 8-2 John Panting won all three and there were two wins apiece For Pat Shaw and Christine Haines. Only resistance came from Ben Djekic who won twice.
Thatcham Hawks were 6-4 winners over West Ilsley B and are another team challenging for the top Ian Dickason was man of the match with a fine treble and assisted Dave Norman in securing the doubles.. Steve Cobrin and Dave Langton both won two for Ilsley
