Swerve A moved a step nearer to clinching the First Division title of the Middlesbrough and District Table Tennis League last week when they defeated Ormesby A 7-3.   

Alex Ward was the star of the match scoring a hat trick for Swerve, whilst Nuradin Muktar won two and Jamel Mohamed won one.  David Gofton played very well for Ormesby to beat Nuradin Muktar, David Gofton recovered from 2-1 down to win 11-8 in the decider.  Dave Ashwell for Ormesby beat Mohamed 3-1. 

Swerve A’s chances of winning the title also received a boost when the Club’s B team were beaten 7-3 by Beaumont Nomads Accountancy due to a hat trick from Anthony Phoenix and two wins from Mark Walpole.  Jevon Chan produced the best results for Swerve by beating Mark Walpole and Steve Baines. 

These results confirm Swerve A at the top of the table with 119 points from 13 matches played, whilst Swerve B are seven points behind them from 14 matches.  Beaumont’s victory gives them the chance to overtake Ormesby B in third position, Nomads have 93 points from 14 matches, whilst Ormesby have 92 from the same number of matches played.
