Victory for Swerve D over Ormesby F in the Second Division of the Middlesbrough and District Table Tennis League has almost certainly turned the Championship battle into a two-horse race between Beaumont Nomads C and Nunthorpe B.

Swerve won the match by 6-4 with a hat trick from Angus Poole and two wins from Anwar Rasoul.  Both of the outsiders in the Championship race lost valuable points whilst the two leading teams in the Division, Beaumont Nomads C and Nunthorpe B both won their matches 10-0. 

For Ormesby F, Tom Hand won two of his sets whilst Keith Lewis and John McCulloch won one each. 

For Beaumont C in their 10-0 victory over Nunthorpe C.  Geoff Howe, Simon Sharples and Malcolm Noble all scored hat tricks.  Nunthorpe B also won their match by 10-0 against Swerve E, Barbara Kearney, Nick Bashford and Trevor Teasdale were all unbeaten. 

The battle at the top of the table remains very tight as Beaumont Nomads C have 136 points from 15 matches, whilst Nunthorpe B have 128 from 14.  Ormesby F look as if the chance of Championship honours have slipped beyond their grasp, they have 110 points from 15 matches.  Swerve D are in a similar situation with 95 points from 14.
