With two substantial wins Ormesby A have moved to the top of the first division of the Middlesbrough and District Table Tennis League having beaten Swerve C by 7-3 and Swerve B 10-0.   

Against Swerve C David Gofton was the only unbeaten player scoring a hat trick which included a win against Andy Wilson of 11-8 in the fifth and one against Martin Rutter by 3-1.  Thomas Rayner won two for Ormesby including a win against Wilson, whilst George Hill won one at the expense of Luke Bradburn.  Rutter was the best player for Swerve winning two of his sets which included an 11-3 win in the deciding game with victory over Rayner.  Wilson won 1 beating Hill by 3-1. 

Against swerve A Ormesby’s team all scored hat tricks.  The team consisted of Rayner, Hill and Jack Cope.  The closet set was a win for Hill against Callum McRae 11-8 in the decider.

Swerve C had their best result when visiting the Championship contenders Beaumont Accountancy Nomads A winning by 6-4.  Rutter, Jevon Chan and Wilson all won two.  Anthony Phoenix was the star of this match scoring a hat trick for Nomads. 

Ormesby B kept their interest in the Championship race with a 9-1 victory over their own D team with hat tricks from Carl White and Michael Young.  Adam Ridley won two losing only to Jack Dewar.   

With approximately a quarter of the season completed, the league table is looking very tight amongst the top five teams.  With last week’s two wins Ormesby A lead the table with 39 points from 5 matches, Beaumont Accountancy Nomads are in second place with 34 from 5.  Swerve A remain very much in contention with 30 points from 4, whilst Swerve C have 29 points from 5.  Ormesby B are the fifth team in the frame with 26 from 4.
