Division 1

  1. Zygabyte A beat Rangers -  6-4 – P.O.M – Dean Brookes

  2. Zygabyte B beat Rhinos  – 9-1 – P.O.M – Amber Zygadlo

Favourites and current champions Zygabyte A started their campaign against one of their major challengers Ravenshead Rangers and just came out 6-4 winners in a very close fought battle.

Dean Brookes for Zygabyte A won POM as he won all his 3 games and also combined with Bob Hume to win a crucial doubles match at the end to claim the victory.

Kerry Harvey for the Rangers lost to Dean in the first match, but then beat Bob and then got revenge on Joe Zygadlo who beat her the previous week in the Autumn Cup semi-final.

Zygabyte A were 5-4 up going in to the Doubles but the very experienced pairing of Dean & Bob won 3-0 and brought home the victory.

Rhinos who were promoted last year entertained Zygabyte B, They got off to a great start with Capt Richard Robinson beating Dave Hodgkin 3-1 to go 1-0 up, however that was as good as it got for the Rhinos as POM Amber Zygadlo won all her 3 games 3-0 backed up by Kev Cope who also won all 3, but only narrowly beating Richard 3-2 in their encounter.

A 3-1 victory in the doubles brought home a convincing 9-1 win for Zygabyte B, and with only 2 matches in Division 1 in the 1st week of the season, Zygabyte B sit top.

Spin Doctors and Ravenshead Rebels fought out a 5-5 draw in their first match of the season.

It looked as though it was going to be a breeze for Rebels as they took a 4-0 lead and only dropped 1 end in 13 ends played. Spin Doctors Capt Glyn Payne stopped the rot with a victory over Val Tully, but when Mike Cohen beat debutant Suman Tamang it looked like the contest was over at 5-1.

But great spirit from the Spin Doctors saw them win the next 2 to take it to 5-3 with Suman claiming is very first win in the league, then in the battle of the 2 captains Mike Cohen took a 2-1 lead but Glyn was not done and came back to win the next 2 and take the tie to the doubles at 4-5.

Glyn & Suman then Beat Val & Laurence Taylor 3-1 in the doubles to claim a great comeback and go home with the draw.

Jacksdale C travelled to Snipers of St Josephs B on the first match of the season, Jacksdale C who famously bloods the youngsters in the league, look to have found a good young player in Dexter Fairbank.

Jacksdale C took a 4-0 lead with Debutant Dexter beating the Snipers Captain Dean Marsh 3-1 on the way. Ralph Rodda stopped the rot with a victory over Angela Brettell, that was the only win the Snipers grabbed all night.

Although there was a great match between Dean & Angela which was the only game that went the distance with Angela winning 11-8 on the 5th, the night belonged to the Juniors with 17 year old Hari Rampall not losing an end all night, and 14 year old Dexter also claiming an 100% record on his first ever league match.

The Juniors completed the night with a 3-0 victory in the doubles to take the match 9-1, and sit at the top of the league after week 1.

A maximum from Alan Kenyon helped the Rattlers to an exciting 5-5 draw away at Ravensdale. Rod Sampson and Derek Clarke both won 2 of their matches for the home team before Alan teamed up with his son Mark to beat Rod and Stuart Chadwick in the doubles to share the spoils.

A good start for Hucknall 50+ who beat Ravenshead Marksman on the first week of the season 6-4.

New player for Hucknall 50+ Nathan Hollingworth won 2 of his games one of them debutant for Marksman Dilip Malkan but he couldn't overcome the POM Mark Sansom in the 9th game with Mark winning 3-0.

Mark won all his 3 and partnered Andy Kirkland in the doubles to try and salvage a draw, but the partnership of Nathan & Andy King was to strong winning 3-1 and taking the match 6-4 on the night
