MATCH WEEK 19 Results

Division 1

  1. Zygabyte A beat Boothys– 10-0– P.O.M – Dean Brookes
  2. Jacksdale B beat Jacksdale C– 9-1 – P.O.M – Nigel Parlor
  3. Jacksdale A drew Rhinos – 5-5 – P.O.M – Malcolm Allsop
  4. Zygabyte B vs Riots – 0-0 – P.O.M –  AWAITING SCORECARD

Zygabyte A made it 12 in 12 with Dean Brookes claiming his 7th POM the most in either division. Zygabyte A won 10-0 against Boothy’s, this is the 5th Whitewash of the season for Zygabyte A. This moves them 34 points clear of second place, but teams below them have 2 games in hand.

The Zygabyte A team of Dean, Joe Zygadlo & Bob Hume just need to get 7 more points in their final 2 games to gain the title for the 10th time in the last 12 years.

Jacksdale A and Rhinos played out a 5-5 draw, however Jacksdale A only had 2 players so started 3-0 down, Steve Scott for the Rhinos beat Ged Dernley, and combined with Graham Smith in the doubles to get the Draw.

Malcolm Allsop was POM with and unbeaten performance.

Russ Harrison for the Rhinos took both Jacksdale A players to 5 sets losing 12-10 to Ged in the 5th and 11-6 against Malcolm in the 5th.

Jacksdale B continued the good current form of winning their last 5 games, this time it was 9-1 against club rivals Jacksdale C.  Nigel Parlor was POM with 3 wins, Ker-Wei Chien also had 3 wins and Russ Webster 2. Ker-Wei & Nigel also combined in a Doubles Victory.

The only consolation point for Jacksdale C was Glen Holmes beat Russ Webster 3-2.

Jacksdale B look strong favourites for 2nd place as this result moves them 13 points clear of the Ravenshead Riots with games running out for the season.

Jacksdale C still remain in 4th.

Division 2

  1. Spin Doctors beat Ravens – 6-4 – P.O.M – Nigel Stent
  2. River Maun beat Angels – 6-4 – P.O.M – Andy Brown
  3. Snipers beat Jacksdale D – 6-4 – P.O.M – Erlands Skels
  4. Hucknall 50+ beat Rebels – 8-2 – P.O.M – Andy King

Snipers moved 5 points clear at the top of Division 2 with 2 games left, with a 6-4 victory over Jacksdale D on Friday night, although it was not straight forward for the leaders.

Jacksdale D moved into a 3-1 lead after 4, with Billy Melrose winning 2 and Hari Rampall 1, However Erlands Skels won his second match followed by Jim Westwood to make the match 3-3 and in the balance.

The next match Billy was looking to make it a hat-trick, however so was Erlands and Erlands was the victor winning in 3 sets 11-8, 11-6 & 11-4.

Dean Marsh Narrowly lost to Angela Brettell in the 5th, but Jim won his second match, and Jim & Erlands joined up and won the doubles to take a vital 6-4 victory for the leaders.

Jacksdale D still have a chance of 4th place and the 4 points will help them in their chase of River Maun.

Hucknall 50+ move temporarily to the top spot with a 8-2 victory over Ravenshead Rebels, they move 1 point above the previous leaders who don't play till Friday.

Another strong performance from Hucknall 50+ led by their talisman Andy King who once again was unbeaten and claimed his 5th POM award. The night could've been even better for Hucknall if it wasn't for the dogged determination of Mike Cohen for the Rebels.

Mike went 2-0 up against Dick Johnson, Dick got it back to 2-2 winning the 4th convincingly 11-1, However Mike pulled himself together and managed to just pip Dick 14-12 in the decider. Then against John Banner, Mike was 2-0 down and then 10-4 down in the 3rd, and even though John Banner had 6 match points, Mike somehow came through winning the game 13-11 and then the next 2 (  11-9, 11-9 ) to win his 2nd match of the night.

Dick Johnson & John Banner both won their other 2, and Andy King & Dick Johnson won the doubles to keep their title bid alive and kicking.

Angels lost their second game on the trot and took a big knock in their title chase which they have been leading all season. Angels lost 6-4 to the ever improving River Maun side.

Andy Brown won his 5th POM award for the Angels, unbeaten once again boasting an impressive 93.94% this season. But his 3 wins plus 1 win by Captain Maggie Burrows was not enough as Mark Sansom & Michael Matuschenko both won 2, combined together to win the doubles and John Howbrook won 1.

Angels were leading 4-3 after 7 matches, but Mark Sansom beat Maggie Burrows, then John Howbrook beat Anne Lindley to take a 5-4 lead in the doubles, and Mark & Michael Matuschenko who are building a good doubles reputation, won the doubles to take the match.

Spin Doctors get their 2nd win in a row with a 6-4 victory over Boothy’s Ravens and only their 3rd of the campaign. Nigel Stent kept his 100% record for the 4 games he has played and notched up POM for the 4th time out of 4 also.

Nigel beat all the opposition 3-0, backed up by Ralph Rodda who won 2 of his 3 matches. Nigel & Ralph also combined in a close Doubles match Against Phil Parkin & Stan Zygadlo, Just clinching it in the 5th set decider 12-10, and was crucial to take the win.

For the Ravens Phil won 2 and Stan 1 and Eric Harding 1.
