MATCH WEEK 16 Results

Division 1

1.       Riots beat Rhinos – 10-0– P.O.M – Simon Chatterton

2.       Jacksdale B beat Jacksdale A – 6-4 – P.O.M – Kalpesh Bhatt

3.       Jacksale C beat Boothys – 6-4 – P.O.M –  Russ Stevens

4.       Zygabyte A vs Zygabyte B – 8-2 – P.O.M –  Dean Brookes

 

Zygabyte A move 15 points clear at the top of Division 1 with an 8-2 victory over Club rivals Zygabyte B.

Zygabyte B have a player away at the moment so can only field 2 players, and both Amber Zygadlo & Kev Cope Managed to beat Bob Hume to get something from the night.

Dean Brookes (POM) & Joe Zygadlo for Zygabyte A had unbeaten nights both beating the opposition 3-1 & 3-0.

Zygabyte B will be desperate to get their 3rd player back, but they are 13 points clear of relegation with games in hand so should be OK.

Kalpesh Bhatt won his 5th POM of the season, and his 3rd back to back POM in 2016, in his teams ( Jacksdale B) 6-4 victory over club rivals Jacksdale A.

It was a close match all night and after 8 games the score was 4-4, But Kalpesh beat Zak Melrose in the 9th game 3-0 and then partnered Nigel Parlor in a 3-0 doubles win to take the match 6-4.

Russ Webster for Jacksdale B was involved in both the games that went to the 5th end, losing out to Zak Melrose 11-7 in the 5th end, however beat Jonathan Heath 11-8 in their final end encounter.

Russ was also involved in the other match, for the longest end of the night, in the 2nd end Malcolm Allsop beat Russ 20-18.

This result put Jacksdale B back to 2nd, they now are 5 points clear of the Riots but the Riots have a game in hand, so 2nd place is still all to play for.

Ravenshead Riots moved provisionally up to 2nd with a 10-0 victory over Ravenshead Rhinos. Riots have now played the same amount of game as Jacksdale B and are above them by 1 point.

Simon Chatterton was quite dominant in this match winning all his matches 3-0, and not conceding more than 6 in any one end.

Andy Thorley & Matt Fowkes completed the Whitewash for the Riots, but it wasn't as easy for them, with Graham Smith taking an end of both of them and Steve Scott was involved in 2 great battles.

Against Andy, Steve lost 3-1 however this doesn't tell the story with 2 marathon games Steve winning the 2nd end 17-15 and then Andy winning the 4th to win the match and even longer 19-17.

Against Matt, Steve & Matt exchanged ends, with Matt winning the 5th end 11-8 to take the set 3-2.

Boothy's first match at their new premises at Ravensdale saw Jacksdale C gain a 6-4 win in a tight contest. Player of the Match Russ Stevens gained a maximum with Derek Clarke and Mick Pinegar both winning 2 of their matches. Derek then teamed up with Stuart Chadwick to win a thrilling doubles match and give Boothy's a much needed 4 points.

Jacksdale C consolidate their 4th place with this latest victory.

Division 2

1.       Ravens beat Rebels – 7-3 – P.O.M – Stan Zygadlo

2.       Hucknall 50+  vs Angels – Match Rearranged 17th Feb 2016

3.       Snipers beat Spin Doctors – 8-2 – P.O.M – Erlands Skels

4.       Jacksdale D vs River Maun – 7-3 -  P.O.M –  Mark Sansom

Snipers took advantage of Angels not playing this week and played their game they had in hand , and beat Spin Doctors 8-2 to move top of the league by 1 point.

Erlands Skels won his 4th POM of the season with another unbeaten performance, only losing 1 end on the night. Ben Swain also won all his games only losing 2 ends on the night. They also combined in the doubles.

Dean Marsh won his first match of the season, beating Graham Stent 3-1.

Ralph Rodda & Glyn Payne both won 1 game for their 2 points.

The game was closer than the score suggested with 5 games going to the 4th end ( however none of the games went the distance of a 5th end).

The 2 closest matches of the night was Erlands and Glyn where they traded 14-12 victories in the first 2 ends, and Ben Swain & Ralph had a close encounter also with a 13-11 win to Ben in the 2nd, and all the other games could have gone either way.

Boothys Ravens won their 2nd match of the season, beating Ravenshead Rebels 7-3, this moves them 8 points above their opposition in the league.

Stan Zygadlo was only player to win all his matches and claimed the POM, he also combined with Chris Tilstone to win the doubles also. Chris himself won 2 with Eric Harding winning 1.

The 3 Rebels all won 1 match each, with Mike Cohen beating Chris and Val Tully & Alan Kenyon beating Eric.

Mike Cohen was involved in the 2 games that went the distance on the night, and on both occasions he lost the first 2 ends, against Eric, Mike won the next 2 but Eric won the 5th End 11-7. However against Chris Tilstone, Mike went 1 better and won the final end 12-10 in a very close battle.

River Maun played Jacksdale D on Friday night and this was a battle for 4th place, and with them drawing in the first meeting another close match was expected.

River Maun led by POM & Unbeaten player Mark Sansom won the tie 7-3 and moved 3 points clear in 4th place ahead of their opposition. Michael Matushenko won 2 and John Howbrook broke his league duck, winning his first league match.

Billy Melrose offered resistance for Jacksdale D winning his first 2 matches, but when he met Mark Sansom in the 9th match, although all the games were close Mark came through with a 13-11,6-11,11-9,11-9 victory.

Mark & Michael then finished a great night for River Maun with a 3-0 victory in the doubles to take the match 7-3.
