2.       Royals beat Rangers – 7-3 - P.O.M – Gareth Godber

3.       Jacksdale B beat Zygabyte B – 6-4 – P.O.M. - Alex Millward

The new season kicked off and we saw the return of 2014-15 Division 1 Champions Ravenshead Rascals after a 1 year sabbatical last season they returned  under the new guise of Ravenshead Royals and will be the team to beat again this year with a convincing 7-3 victory over last years 3rd place team who also re-invented themselves changing their name from Ravenshead Riots to Ravenshead Rangers.

Kerry Harvey gave the most resistance winning 2 of her 3 games and combining with SImon Chatterton in a doubles victory also, but she couldn't overcome a Gareth Godber who  beat her last week in the Autumn cup final, beat Kerry Again this time 3-1.

Gareth was POM only losing the one leg to Kerry and winning the others quite convincingly, Mick Pestka won 2 for the Royals and Ray Rider won 2 also. Ray was involved in the closest game of the night beating Simon Chatterton 11-7 in the 5th.

Division 2 Champions from last year, Snipers of St Josephs A made their Division 1 debut, and it was a tough babtism of fire against the team that finished 2nd in the Division last year, however  the game was very tight and Jacksdale A only took the game 6-4 with a victory in the doubles.

Kalpesh was the only man on the night with an unbeaten record winning all 3 singles, and doubles with Russ Webster, Russ & Pete Hodgson both won 1.

For the Snipers Tony Swain won 2, Jim Westwood & Erlands Skels both won 1.

All matches on the night were 3-1, so a battling performance from the Snipers, who will take confidence from this result.

After not playing in Mansfield last Year Alex Millward returned for Zygabyte B, and won POM of the match winning all his matches, unfortunately this was not enough for the team to win, as Jacksdale B beat them 6-4.

Glen Holmes & John Fordham both won their other 2 matches and Russ Stevens won 1 and lost to Amber Zygadlo 12-10 in the 5th in probably the most entertaining singles match of the night, with 2 (12-10)'s and 2 (11-9)'s and an 11-8.

Going into the doubles Jacksdale B were 5-4 up, but POM Alex came to the table and partnered Dave Hodgkin, the Zygabyte pairing won the first, but Jacksdale came back winning the next 2, but when Alex & Dave won the 4th 11-2 momentum had swung and a draw looked likely, however Jacksdale duo Glen & John found reserve and won the 5th 11-5 to take the doubles and the match.

Ravenshead Rebels started their campaign over a newly formed team Marksmen B.

Interestingly 2 members of the DIvision 2 winning team Ravenshead Phoenix from 3 years ago,  found themselves playing each other with Mike Cohen returning last year for the Rebels and now Richard Cain returning for Marksmen B, Mike won the game in the 5th 11-8 to help steer his team to the victory and also claim POM as he won all his games.

Alan Kenyon won 2 of his 3 games, Val Tully 1 and Val & Alan won in the doubles.

For Marksmen B Richard won 2 games and Captain James Owen won 1.

The turning point in this match was at 3-3, the next 2 matches were the only 2 to go the distance and they were both won by the Rebels, and once thy took a 5-3 lead there was no looking back.

Marksmen B can take heart as if these games were reversed who knows the result could have been much different

Marksmen A started their new season this team is a mixture from last season of River Maun & Ravens and the newly formed team got a credible 5-5 draw against the Rhinos who have come down from Division 1, Captain Mark Sansom carried on from last season with a POM performance and winning all his 3 games.

Mike Matushenko won 1 and Mark teamed up with Chris Tilstone in the doubles to bring the match from 5-3 back to a 5-5 draw.

For the Rhinos Steve Scott & Richard Robinson both won 2 and Graham smith 1.

50% of the matches went to the 5th and deciding game with Marksmen A winning 3 of them and Rhinos 2 just showing how close this contest was, and Mark & Chris in the doubles had to come back from 2-1 down and won the final game in a nail biting 12-10 result.

Steve Scott in 8th match came back from 2-0 against Mick Matushenko to win 3-2, this was a crucial match as it gave the Rhinos a 5-3 lead.

Hucknall 50+ & Zygabyte Spin Doctors season opener ended in a draw.

Hucknall 50+ took a 3-1 lead when newcomer to the league this season Andy Kirkland surprisingly beat Andy King, King only lost 2 matches in the league all season last year, he lost the same in the first match of the season, as he lost to Andy Kirklands Son Jack as well.

Jack was the POM on the night winning all his singles, With Andy Kirkland just winning the 1 game against Andy King, and Glyn Payne beat Roy Drew.

The Visitors took a 5-4 lead going into the doubles, but Hucknall who could always rely on their doubles last year, continued this with a 3-0 victory to level the match on the night.

Snipers B went joint top  with a great 7-3 victore over Jacksdale C on Friday night.

POM Rob Vaughan and Ralph Rodda both won all their singles however they couldn't combine to also take the doubles, Dean Marsh held his composure in the game he won against Alan Lockyear after being 2-0 up, Alan got it back to 2-2 but Dean settled and saw out the win.

Ralph Rodda also had a 5th game decider after coming back from 2-1 against Billy Melrose he came back to win 12-10 11-3 in the last 2.

Rob Vaughan was quite dominant with 2 x 3-1 wins and a 3-0.

For Jacksdale C Jonathan Heath & Billy Melrose both won 1 and combined in the doubles to get 3 points on the night
