For the first time for several years Malvern entered a team in the National Junior League. The team travelled to Wood Green on 10 October for the first of 3 rounds of matches in competition with 17 other teams.
Each match consisted of 6 singles sets with players ranked in order of merit. The number 1 player played against the numbers 1 and 2 of the opposition. Number 2 faced numbers 1 and 3 and number 3 squared off with opponents 2 and 3.
In this round Malvern played 5 matches, recording wins over Woodfield A (4-2), Draycott B (5-1), Colebridge B (5-1) and Wood Green B (6-0). They suffered one defeat against Sutton (2-4). This meant the team finished second in their group.
The successful team were -
1 Dominic Weston 6 wins out of 10 sets
2 Ethan Webb 9 wins out of 10 sets
3 James Glazzard 7 wins out of 10 sets.
Well done to the boys and to their coach Graham Collier and his assistant and driver Stephen Glazzard.
