Match Report

Heck of a match and three five setters which went Castaways way made the difference.

The first talking point was whether Gareth wasting three game points, or was it Pete saving three game points, in the third a match turning point in the first game of the evening?
Certainly, Gareth being 4-1 up in the fifth should have led to a better result than a loss to 5!

Tony then drew the match score with win over Neil before Mike had a comfortable 3-1 win over Chris.

The second round of games was another 2-1 to Castaways with an emphatic win from Neil over Gareth, another tense five legger from Pete over Chris, but then Tony again rescued Nat West with a three straight win over Mike.

Cracking match and great chat in the Speaker afterwards. On to tomorrow night when Castaways take on Morpeth A and Nat West take on the Champions Elect, Comets A.

The turning point possibly came with the next game where a hard and long fought game produced a win for Neil over Chris with a candidate for longest leg (or second longest?) 18-16, the first win for Neil over Chris for quite a while. Mike then won the battle of the pimples courtesy of “being able to play with them” according to Pete. Pete then produced the win of the night (in your scribe’s opinion) with a four-set win over Tony to score a maximum on one and a half legs!

Pete then decided a shower was more important that a doubles win (or doing any more damage to a knee replacement that only happened nine weeks ago!) and whilst Castaways put up a fight the combined power of Tony and Chris won through in four.
