Each summer, for a number of years, Table Tennis England has organised Ping! which is a programme to highlight social table tennis. Tables have been placed at various locations around the city and members of the public have played social table tennis.
The Liverpool and District Table Tennis League is one of the oldest Leagues in the country - being formed in 1926 - and remains one of the largest Leagues in Lancashire and Cheshire. In the 2017-18 season the League consists of 59 teams in five divisions with 406 affiliated members competing on a weekly basis throughout the winter months. Liverpool City representative players play in the Lancashire and Cheshire League. In addition to the league and cup matches the League also runs an annual 'Closed' tournament at the end of the season. The Liverpool Grand Prix tournament was resurrected some years ago as part of the Grand Prix series and is now an annual event.
