KEAL MADRID had a sudden visit from the SLAPPERS. The Slappers captain Clive Mitchell was again in pulsating form , beating Keal captain Nigel in a very tight affair by 12-10, 12-10, 9-11, 6-11, 11-8.His match against Ian Sleight, too went to five with Clive again the winner by 9-11, 11-7, 12-10, 10-12, 11-4. Finlay for the Keal’s went down in four to Clive but did better by winning 9-11, 11-5, 11-7, 11-7 against Andy Flynn and by 11-4, 11-6, 9-11, 12-10 against Jonah Shepherd. An excellent doubles win for Andy and Jonah by 11-8, 8-11, 11-9, 7-11, 12-10 kept things very tight but two singles wins for Ian Sleight and Keal Madrid magician Nigel took the Madrid team to a fine 6-4 victory.

CRUSADERS A felt a touch of the PSYCHO DELICS for the evening. Top match was between Derek wood and Matt Hewitt , with Matt easing past the curtain with a 11-3, 6-11, 10-12, 11-8, 11-8. Joe Sheehan too did well to take Matt to four games and Colin Walters and Derek both went down to Dan Otter in four. The result a 10-0 win for the top team in the league at the moment despite all the Psychos could throw at them.

RUSTONS A had a visit by the gods of the OLYMPIANS who were hoping to make up ground in their quest for the title. Mick Johnson did best for the A’s losing to Jack Blyth by 11-5, 10-12, 11-5, 11-8 and to Alkisti by 11-9, 11-7, 6-11, 11-6. Terry Colam also did well to take Alkisti to four games, only losing by 11-9, 11-5, 8-11, 11-5. Three singles wins each for Andy Wignall, Alkisti and Jack pushed the result to 10-0 win for the Olympians to maintain their hopes of catching up in the title race.

WARRIORS hosted CRUSADERS C. Fist match on table between the two number one players Anthony Tindall and Bill Holmes was a thriller. Bill squeaked home by 8-11, 11-6, 8-11, 11-7, 11-9 and maintained his good form throughout the evening beating Roy Ellis and Jack Bradley in four games for an evening singles maximum. Rob Trevethick too was in sparkling form easing to three fine wins. Anthony showed up well for the home team with a hard hitting win over Darren Thorpe by 7-11, 11-6, 11-6, 11-9. Two wins for Darren plus the doubles saw the C’s home by 9-1 for yet another excellent win.

FANTASTIC FIVE entertained the CRUSADERS B. Fives number one, Lewis Mcfarlane did very well to take the league’s top form player Quentin Olley to five games, Q winning by 11-6, 11-5, 8-11, 10-12, 11-7.Q maintained his devastating form beating Karl Wynne and Ben Applewhite ,both in three games. It was very good to see Duddy Dudman again hitting top form winning all his three matches ,the finest being against Ben by 6-11, 8-11, 11-7, 11-4, 11-8. Ben too went so very close to Paul Moore losing in five again by 11-7, 5-11, 11-5, 6-11, 11-5. The end result a magnificent win for the B’s by 10-0.

IN DIVISION TWO only one match was played this week.

This was CRUSADERS E against MISFITS. Captain Misfit, Nic Robinson was top man going past Ian Minoghue by 11-4, 10-12, 5-11, 11-9, 11-9 and losing narrowly to Rob McCann by 10-12, 7-11, 11-7, 11-6, 11-6. Iain Hicklin for the E’s was having a very fine evening with three comfortable singles wins. Young Lex Robinson took the top man, Iain to four games and had a very ,very close match with Rob ,only losing by 11-6, 6-11, 9-11, 11-9, 12-10. The result was  a 9-1 victory for the E’s.
