New President of the Association

The Executive Committee has elected Brian Yeates as President of the Association. Brian is the General Secretary of Eathorpe Table Tennis Club, a position he has held for more than 20 years. He joined Leamington League in the eighties, when his club lost its playing venue in Coventry. They played at Princethorpe briefly until that venue also became unavailable.

As a club they moved to Eathorpe in 1992 and adopted that name which continues to this day. Over the ensuing years the club has gained playing strength and has attracted a good number of junior players. It currently enters eight teams in the league. Brian himself played in some capacity until 2008 since when he has continued as the club's General Secretary.

Brian's work for the village of Eathorpe has extended beyond table tennis. In particular he was very actively involved in the project to provide a new village hall some years ago which  as well as providing a better table tennis venue has been a great benefit to the community as a whole.

Brian is the first President of the Association to come from the Eathorpe Club.

Brian replaces Brian Aston who retired from the Presidency after the AGM this year. The Executive Committee would like to place on record its warmest thanks to him for his work for the Association as President and in many other capacities over the years. Brian Aston was a Vice President before he became President and the Executive Committee has re-elected him as a Vice President on his retirement from the Presidency.
