Bennett reaches main draw in Portugal

Josh Bennett won his opening singles match, but there was bad news in the doubles competitions on day six of the European Youth Championships.

Bennett defeated Vsevolod Broiakovskyi of Ukraine in five games in the qualifying round and will join Matt Leete and Luke Savill in the round of 128 on Thursday. Tom Jarvis enters the competition in the next round.

However, all the English players who were in action in the doubles in Portugal today were defeated, though Bennett and his Italian partner Emilia Manukyan did win their opening match.
