From the start of the 2013/14 season, we will schedule league matches at the club on five days a week (Monday to Friday), but only on two tables. A new five-table layout will leave three other tables for training and practice; members are asked to limit their practice to sessions of 40 minutes maximum if other members are waiting. Note - always check the Table Diary to confirm that facilities have not been booked.
Kingfisher’s junior championship was again a success with four events and 108 matches scheduled over six and a half hours of the late morning and afternoon of April 27th. For many of the entrants this was their first tournament and, in some cases, the first time they had ever played a ‘proper’ match with an official umpire.
Congratulations are due to Kingfisher members Maria Tsaptsinos, Liam McTiernan and Amy Blagbrough on being selected to represent England schools at the International Schools competition being held in the Isle of Man.
With the winter season drawing to a close, Kingfisher members can now practice in readiness for next season, compete in the Club Championships or Grand Prix tournaments or enjoy the social activity of Club Nights every Thursday.
ETTA's latest Ranking & Rating Lists (Period 216), published April 30th, show Kingfisher juniors in various age categories
Maria Tsaptsinos jumps to 3 in the Junior list
Liam McTiernan at 6 in Juniors, Amy Blagbrough at 4 in Under-13s
