Match report - January 29th 2018

Dalton A in pole position

As we enter the final week of phase 1 of the Kendal & District Table Tennis League, Dalton A are in pole position. They recovered from a 5-5 draw against Burton A to post a comprehensive 7-3 win against arch rivals IBIS. Ben McDonald defeated Steve Dixon for the second time this season compensating for his surprise loss to a typically resilient Peter Baxendale in the Burton match. Dalton A cannot now be overtaken despite having one match still to play. At the end of phase 1, the top 4 teams will compete for the Division 1 Championship and Dalton A will be joined by IBIS, Natland A and in all probability Burton A for the phase 2 matches. The bottom 4 teams will battle to avoid relegation or a relegation play-off.

In Division 2, with one match to play, Burton B are a long way ahead at the top. They have 95 points, following a comfortable 8-2 victory against Burton C. Shelley Rhodes and Dennis Hooley were both unbeaten for Burton B. They will be joined in phase 2 by Natland D and Kirkby Stephen A. The 4th team in the top half of Division 2 will be determined by the final match between Burton C and Burton D. Burton C need a single point to secure their place in the top 4 and 5 points to finish second.

In Division 3, with all phase 1 fixtures completed, Crook C take a 26 point lead over Grayrigg A and a 29 point lead over Kirkby Stephen B into phase 2.
