IBIS gathering momentum

Burton A consolidated their position at the top of Division 1 of the Kendal & District Table Tennis League following a 22-14 win against Dalton Cricket Club. Crook A, in second place, scraped through 19-17 against Natland B, despite only fielding 2 players. Phil Riley and John Howarth won 5 of their 6 singles matches and teamed up to win the doubles and the match against the struggling Natland side. Meanwhile, Natland A and IBIS closed the gap on the top two. Natland A beat Dallam A 24-13. Roger Pimblett lost for the first time this season, 11-9, 9-11, 10-12, 9-11 to James Neal in a closely contested encounter, only for Tamas Bacsi to turn the tide back in Natland’s favour with an 11-8, 6-11, 3-11, 11-7, 11-9 win over James Neal. IBIS secured a comprehensive 26-8 victory against Burton B. Steve Dixon and James McGrath were unbeaten for IBIS but Dennis Hooley and Mike Armishaw spared Burton’s blushes with wins against Harry Carter.

In Division 2, Crook B, with a commanding 25-11 defeat of promotion rivals, Natland C, moved up into second place. Phil Swift and Mike Taylor both won all of their singles matches.
